Medical sources in the Gaza Strip have reported that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli military aggression has reached 73,221, with 173,643 people injured since October 7, 2023. The figures were released on Saturday, July 11, 2026, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Recent Casualties and Ceasefire Impact
Over the past 24 hours, hospitals across Gaza received seven bodies, including one recovered from beneath the rubble, and 28 injured individuals. Since the ceasefire began on October 11, 2025, the death toll has reached 1,098, while 3,535 people have been injured. Medical sources also noted that 800 bodies have been recovered during the same period.
Many victims remain trapped under rubble and on the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them due to ongoing hostilities and access restrictions.
Humanitarian Crisis and Israeli Expansion
Israel has been conducting military strikes on the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people facing hunger, disease, and displacement. Israeli officials have stated an intention to expand control over 70 percent of the enclave.
Nikolay Mladenov, the US President Donald Trump-appointed Board of Peace envoy to Gaza, has stated that both sides have violated the October 2025 agreement. The Board of Peace is planning a pilot humanitarian zone for Gazans as a way to restart the stalled peace plan, regardless of whether a deal is reached with Hamas on the plan's second phase, a board official said.
Ongoing Challenges
The medical sources emphasized that the number of casualties continues to rise as rescue operations are hampered. The international community has called for adherence to the ceasefire and renewed negotiations to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
