Ishaq Dar Departs for Cairo to Attend R-4 Meeting

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday departed Islamabad for Cairo to participate in the 4th meeting of the R-4 Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Egypt, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

Bilateral Meetings and Call on Egyptian President

On the sidelines of the meeting, the foreign minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the participating foreign ministers and call on the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the ministry added.

Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar departed Islamabad for Cairo, Egypt, to participate in the 4th Meeting of the R-4 Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt. On the sidelines of the meeting, the DPM/FM will hold bilateral meetings and call on the President of Egypt, according to a post on X by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Telephone Call from Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister

According to the MoFA X post, FM Dar also received a telephone call from Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The ministry said, FM Saidov felicitated, on behalf of his President and himself, DPM/FM on the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and commended the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, FM Dar and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir for the constructive role in facilitating the process.

Appreciation for Pakistan's Mediation Role

He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts as a mediator and acknowledged its significant contribution to advancing international peace efforts, as well as promoting regional peace and stability, the foreign ministry added.

The ministry further said both leaders expressed hope that the progress achieved would be carried forward into the next phase of engagement, contributing to lasting peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond. The two foreign ministers agreed to maintain close contact on matters of mutual interest, it added.
