Kyiv Mayor: 11 Dead, 46 Injured in Russian Strike

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Monday that a Russian overnight strike on the Ukrainian capital resulted in 11 deaths and 46 injuries. In a statement on Telegram, Klitschko detailed that debris from intercepted missiles and drones fell across several districts of Kyiv, sparking fires and causing structural damage. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, he added.

Russian Defense Ministry Confirms Retaliatory Strikes

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed carrying out the overnight attack, describing it as a response to Ukrainian "terrorist attacks" on civilian infrastructure within Russia. According to the ministry, the strikes targeted military enterprises, fuel and energy facilities in Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as military airfield infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions.

Ukraine Reports Attacks on Russian-Controlled Territory

Ukraine's General Staff also reported overnight attacks on Russian-controlled territory, stating that one strike caused a power outage in the city of Sevastopol in Crimea. Local authorities later confirmed that electricity supplies were restored. Independent verification of claims from both sides remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
