Pakistan, China Welcome Iran-US MoU for Regional Stability

ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, on Wednesday. Both sides welcomed the understandings reached in the Iran–US Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as an important step towards advancing sustainable peace and stability in the region.

China Commends Pakistan's Mediation Efforts

Foreign Minister Wang Yi commended Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach and sustained mediation efforts, noting that Islamabad’s engagement helped create conducive conditions for continued dialogue between Iran and the United States. He also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive contribution to broader international peace and stability, the Foreign Office said.

Pakistan Appreciates China's Support

Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at facilitating Iran–US engagement. He acknowledged Beijing’s role in promoting regional stability, highlighting in particular President Xi Jinping’s Four-Point Proposal and the Pakistan–China Five-Point Initiative as important frameworks for peace and cooperation.

Focus on Implementation and Strait of Hormuz

Both ministers underscored the importance of implementing the understandings reached between the parties and maintaining sustained engagement to support the peaceful resolution of outstanding issues. They also noted the significance of the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for global economic stability, energy security, and international trade flows.

Follow-Up on PM Shehbaz's China Visit

The two sides further discussed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China and agreed on the importance of ensuring robust follow-up on its outcomes. Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation under CPEC 2.0 and expanding bilateral economic and investment ties. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and continue coordination on matters of shared regional and global interest.

Photo Exhibition in Istanbul

In a separate event, a photo exhibition in Istanbul honoured the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, celebrating the legacy of Pakistan’s founder.
