Pakistan has issued a strong warning against the escalation and spillover risks associated with prolonged conflicts, particularly highlighting the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. During an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, reiterated the country's steadfast commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the primary means for achieving a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict.
Call for De-escalation
Ahmad emphasized that any further escalation of the conflict could transform the current crisis into a larger confrontation with far-reaching implications for regional and global peace and security. He stressed that the international community must prioritize diplomatic efforts to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
Pakistan's Stance on Diplomacy
Pakistan has consistently advocated for peaceful settlements through dialogue, and this stance was reaffirmed at the UN Security Council. The representative underscored the need for all parties involved to exercise restraint and engage in meaningful negotiations to avoid a broader conflict that could affect global stability.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions and ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, which have already caused significant humanitarian and economic disruptions. Pakistan's call for de-escalation aligns with its broader foreign policy objectives of promoting peace and security worldwide.
