Pakistan's military leadership on Thursday extended greetings to the nation on the 28th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, reaffirming the armed forces' commitment to safeguarding the country's sovereignty and security. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the nation on the occasion.
Significance of Youm-e-Takbeer
The military leadership said Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates the historic achievement of May 28, 1998, when Pakistan became a declared nuclear power and restored strategic balance in South Asia. The statement described the occasion as a symbol of national unity, resilience, and Pakistan's unwavering resolve to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national honour.
National Achievement
The military's media wing said the achievement reflected the vision of the country's leadership, the contributions of Pakistani scientists and engineers, and the sacrifices of the armed forces and the people. It added that Pakistan's strategic capability remains a national trust and continues to serve as a guarantor of peace, stability, and credible deterrence in the region.
Eidul Azha celebrations continue across Pakistan, as the armed forces reaffirmed their resolve to work for the country's security, stability, and prosperity while renewing their pledge of unity, vigilance, and resilience for a stronger Pakistan. Pakistan conducted its nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, in Chagai in response to India's nuclear explosions earlier that month, becoming the world's seventh declared nuclear power.
