Bahawalnagar Reviews Muharram Security Arrangements
In line with the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a significant meeting was convened on Tuesday at the Deputy Commissioner's office to address law and order, security, and public amenities during Muharram. The session was attended by Commissioner of Bahawalpur Division Irfan Kathia, RPO Bahawalpur Division Ghazi Salahuddin, Deputy Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed, DPO Muhammad Imran, assistant commissioners from all tehsils, DSPs, representatives from Anjuman Tajran, Peace Committee members, community leaders, scholars, Shia imams, and officials from security agencies.
The meeting conducted a thorough assessment of preparations along the routes of Muharram processions and congregations. Directives were issued to relevant departments for route repairs, cleanliness, removal of encroachments, securing loose WAPDA and telephone wires, provision of water supply, lighting, and other essential services.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner and RPO of Bahawalpur Division emphasized that maintaining law and order during Muharram is the utmost priority. They stressed that all institutions must work in complete coordination to achieve this goal. Members of the Peace Committee, Anjuman Tajran, religious scholars, and Shia imams pledged full support to the district administration and police.
The RPO expressed satisfaction with the security measures implemented in Bahawalnagar district for Muharram and warned that any attempt by miscreants to spread hateful content or disrupt peace would not be tolerated.
