Ministers' Petrol Quota Halved to 200 Litres in Austerity

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has announced a significant reduction in the petrol quota allocated to federal ministers as part of the government's ongoing austerity drive. In a statement issued on Sunday, he revealed that the monthly petrol allowance for ministers has been cut from 400 litres to 200 litres.

Commitment to Financial Discipline

The minister emphasized that the government is taking several steps to curb spending and strengthen financial discipline. According to Tarar, numerous perks and facilities previously available to federal ministers have already been scaled back under the austerity policy. He stated that the current policy does not allow any additional incentives for federal ministers.

Discussion on Revised Quota

Tarar added that if there are concerns regarding the revised 200-litre monthly quota, the matter can be discussed further. He reiterated the government's commitment to making better use of national resources and eliminating unnecessary expenditure.

Cost-Cutting Measures Across Ministries

In line with this objective, cost-cutting measures are being implemented across various ministries and government departments. The law minister said that reducing government spending would not only ease pressure on the national treasury but also promote a culture of financial responsibility and discipline.

Future Austerity Measures

Azam Nazir Tarar further stated that several facilities for ministers and senior officials have already been reduced, while additional measures may also be considered as part of the government's austerity policy in the future.
