Hyderabad Police Conduct Multiple Encounters, Apprehend Six Suspects
In a series of coordinated operations, the Hyderabad police have successfully rounded up six suspected outlaws in injured condition following five distinct encounters across various city limits. The incidents occurred within the jurisdictions of Tandojam, Baldia, Tando Yousuf, Naseem Nagar, and Bhitai Nagar police stations, resulting in the suspects sustaining bullet wounds to their legs. Police spokesman Inspector Shahid Usman provided detailed accounts of these events on Thursday, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.
First Encounter: Drug Peddler Apprehended on Tandojam-Matiari Link Road
According to Inspector Usman, the initial exchange of fire took place between officers from the Tandojam police and a suspected drug peddler identified as Feroze Gul Pissio. The confrontation occurred on the Tandojam-Matiari link road, where the suspect was shot in the leg during the skirmish. He was promptly apprehended and transported to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) for medical treatment. Authorities reported recovering a small quantity of crystal ice, described as an expensive narcotic substance, from his possession, underscoring the severity of the drug-related offenses targeted in these operations.
Second Encounter: Robbery Suspects Engaged on CIA Center Link Road
The second incident involved a team from the Baldia police clashing with two suspected robbers on the CIA center link road. The suspects, identified as Sikandar Chandio, also known as Commando, and Zafar Rind, both sustained gunshot wounds during the firefight. Inspector Usman claimed that these individuals and their associates were allegedly involved in a series of robberies targeting trucks and other vehicles on bypass roads and highways. Following their injuries, they were also shifted to LUH to undergo surgery for their gunshot wounds, emphasizing the dangerous nature of their criminal activities.
Third Encounter: Drug Peddler Arrested on Gulshan-e-Raees Link Road
In a third operation, police from the Tando Yousuf station engaged a suspected drug peddler on the Gulshan-e-Raees link road. The suspect, identified as Mukhtiar, a resident of Lalu Lashari village in Hyderabad, was shot in the leg and subsequently arrested. Authorities claimed to have recovered more than one kilogram of hashish from his possession, further highlighting the focus on narcotics enforcement. Mukhtiar was also taken to LUH for treatment of his bullet wound, adding to the tally of injured suspects in these encounters.
Additional Encounters and Broader Implications
Inspector Usman also reported that officers from the Naseem Nagar police station were involved in an exchange of fire with suspected drug peddlers on Icon City road, though specific details on arrests or injuries in this incident were not fully disclosed. These operations reflect a broader crackdown by Hyderabad police on organized crime, particularly drug trafficking and robbery networks. The use of force in these encounters has led to injuries among suspects, raising questions about police tactics, but authorities maintain that these actions are necessary to ensure public safety and curb illicit activities in the area.
Note: This report is based on police statements and does not include independent verification of the events. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. In related news, a separate case in Sujawal resulted in four individuals being sentenced to death and two receiving life imprisonment for a murder, though this is unrelated to the Hyderabad encounters.
