Bilawal Calls for Political Consensus on Key Issues

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday emphasized the need for political consensus on all key issues to effectively address national challenges.

Budget Debate in National Assembly

Participating in the budget debate in the National Assembly, Bilawal said the federal and provincial governments should formulate a long-term, sustainable plan based on growth-oriented economic policies to meet the country’s development and defence needs. He stressed the importance of unity in tackling pressing issues.

He expressed satisfaction that Sindh and other provinces have agreed to contribute to national defence. This arrangement, he noted, was reached through consensus within the constitutional framework and democratic norms.

Benazir Income Support Programme

Highlighting the positive impact of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) on underprivileged segments of society, the PPP Chairman welcomed the increase in its budget allocation. He called for continued support for social safety nets.

Call for Peace in Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Referring to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Bilawal urged protesters to end their protest, distance themselves from elements promoting violence, and resolve issues through peaceful means and dialogue. He reiterated that all issues should be resolved through political means.

Proposal for Interim Representation

The PPP Chairman also proposed granting interim representation to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan’s Parliament. This move, he argued, would ensure their voices are heard in national decision-making.
