Pakistan's government has officially opened mandatory registration for Hajj 2027 for aspiring pilgrims both within the country and abroad, Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf announced on Monday. He also revealed that discussions are ongoing with Saudi Arabia to increase Pakistan's pilgrim quota from the current 179,210 to approximately 230,000.
Registration Process and Requirements
Speaking at the Hajj registration launching ceremony in Islamabad, Yousaf stated that it is mandatory for all intending pilgrims to complete the registration process before choosing either the government or private Hajj schemes. The registration is free of charge, with no fees collected. Overseas Pakistanis can register from any country, and family members are allowed to register jointly. Registration can be completed at any designated bank or online.
The minister emphasized that intending pilgrims must ensure their passports are valid until November 26, 2027. Pakistan's Muslim population has exceeded 230 million people, according to Yousaf.
Quota Negotiations with Saudi Arabia
Yousaf highlighted that discussions are underway between Islamabad and Riyadh to raise Pakistan's Hajj quota from the existing 179,210 pilgrims. He noted that Pakistan's Hajj quota should come to approximately 230,000 pilgrims to accommodate the growing demand. Hajj 2026 concluded in Saudi Arabia last month, with millions of Muslims participating. Pakistan was allocated 179,210 pilgrims, one of the largest quotas globally, under both government and private schemes.
Upcoming Hajj Policy and Package Details
Earlier this month, the religious ministry announced that details about Hajj 2027 package costs, including terms and conditions, will be released later under the forthcoming Hajj policy. The registration launch marks the first step for pilgrims planning to perform the pilgrimage in 2027.
