Two suspected robbers were killed while three others managed to escape during an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) near Rana Town in Lahore, police officials said on Thursday.

Details of the Incident

According to police, the suspects were in the middle of committing a robbery when a CCD team arrived at the scene. Upon spotting the law enforcement officers, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. In the exchange of gunfire, two suspects were killed on the spot, while their three accomplices managed to flee.

Identification and Criminal Background

The deceased were identified as Umar Maqbool and Faisal. Police officials stated that both individuals had been involved in several criminal cases in the past. They were also allegedly linked to a robbery reported a day earlier in which a citizen had been killed.

Search Operation Underway

Following the incident, a search operation has been launched to apprehend the three suspects who escaped during the exchange of fire. Police have cordoned off the area and are conducting raids at possible hideouts.
