The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has placed 150 members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) on the Fourth Schedule. This action was taken through 10 separate notifications issued by the Home Department on Thursday.
Details of the Notifications
According to the notifications, those listed in the Fourth Schedule included four top ringleaders of the banned outfit. Additionally, members against whom substantial evidence of involvement in violent activities existed were also included in the list.
Legal Basis
This action has been taken under Section 16(1) of the AJK Anti-Terrorism Act. The Fourth Schedule of the AJK Anti-Terrorism Act is a list of proscribed or suspected persons.
