Court Extends Remand of Four Suspects in Foreign Women Rape Case

A judicial magistrate in Lahore on Wednesday extended the physical remand of four suspects by five days in a case involving the rape and abduction of two foreign women. The court directed the police to produce the suspects again on July 13.

Court Proceedings at Cantt Courts

Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood issued the reserved order after hearing arguments at the Cantt Courts. The case was registered at the Defence-C police station. Police produced the four suspects with their faces covered and requested a further five-day physical remand.

Prosecutor Mian Sajid informed the court that DNA samples and fingerprints of the suspects had been obtained. However, the police needed more time to recover a vehicle, a laptop, cash, and a weapon linked to the case.

Defense Arguments

Counsel for suspects Sikandar and Sajid opposed the remand extension. The defense argued that his clients were not named in the First Information Report (FIR) nor identified by the complainants in statements recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The defense counsel contended that the suspects had been implicated due to media attention and had no prior criminal record.
