A Karachi court has ordered the exhumation of the body of 18-year-old Misbah, a resident of Surjani Town, to ascertain the exact cause of her death following allegations of violence by her husband.
Court Directive and Medical Board Formation
In compliance with the court's directive, Police Surgeon Karachi Dr Samia Syed has constituted a special medical board to oversee the exhumation and post-mortem examination. The board will be headed by Dr Samia Syed herself, as per an official notification.
Board Composition
The medical board includes Dr Sadaf Haroon from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr Muhammad Yaseen from the Police Surgeon's office, and Additional Police Surgeon Dr Kamran Shaikh. Two assistant mortuary staff members will also assist in the procedure.
According to the notification, the board's primary responsibility is to conduct a thorough post-mortem examination to determine the cause of Misbah's death. The exhumation is expected to provide clarity on whether her death resulted from injuries sustained during alleged domestic violence.
Background of the Case
Misbah's family had earlier alleged that she was subjected to severe physical abuse by her husband, leading to her untimely death. The court's intervention came after a petition was filed seeking a detailed investigation.
The police surgeon's office has assured that all procedures will be carried out in accordance with legal and medical standards. The findings of the post-mortem will be submitted to the court for further legal action.
