The City Traffic Police in Lahore have taken decisive action against unregistered Qingqi rickshaws and loaders, imposing a ban on their entry into model roads, including the busy Canal Road. This move aims to protect citizens' lives and property while ensuring smooth traffic flow across the city.
Strict Enforcement for Public Safety
Authorities have initiated strict enforcement measures, stating that Qingqi rickshaws and loaders without registration or number plates will no longer be permitted to operate on designated model roads. The ban, which took immediate effect, specifically targets Canal Road, a major thoroughfare in Lahore.
Reasons Behind the Ban
According to an awareness campaign issued by the Traffic Police, the entry of unregistered and unnumbered loaders and Qingqi rickshaws has been completely prohibited on model roads. The statement emphasized that this step is crucial for ensuring public safety, maintaining traffic discipline, and reducing the increasing number of road accidents in the city.
Traffic officials noted that unregistered vehicles not only contribute to traffic congestion but also make it difficult to identify responsible individuals in the event of crimes or accidents. By enforcing this ban, the police aim to create a safer environment for all road users.
Legal Consequences for Violators
The City Traffic Police confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against violators of the ban. Authorities have appealed to citizens and drivers to ensure the registration of their rickshaws and loaders and to comply with all traffic regulations. They stressed that road safety can only be achieved through strict adherence to traffic laws, and violations will be treated as punishable offences.
In addition to the ban, the Inspector General of Police reviewed security arrangements for Majalis and Muharram processions across the province, highlighting the importance of public safety during religious events.
