PPP Condemns Attack on Mardan Gurdwara

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Central Secretary General Muhammad Humayun Khan has strongly condemned the firing incident at a Gurdwara in Mardan, describing the attack on a place of worship and innocent citizens as a cowardly and reprehensible act.

Attack on Minority Communities Condemned

In a statement, Humayun Khan said that targeting minority communities through violence was an assault on Pakistan's values of peace, tolerance and national cohesion. He stressed that Sikhs, Hindus, Christians and followers of all faiths were an integral part of the country and that ensuring their safety, property and religious freedoms remained the state's fundamental responsibility.

Demand for Justice and Investigation

He said those responsible for violating the sanctity of a place of worship must be brought to justice without delay and called for exemplary punishment to deter similar attacks in the future. The PPP leader demanded an immediate, transparent and forensic investigation into the incident, urging law-enforcement agencies to identify all those involved and proceed against them under the law.

Warning Against Extremist Elements

Humayun Khan warned that extremist elements sought to undermine social harmony and national unity through such acts of violence but would not succeed in their objectives. He noted that Pashtun society had long been known for its traditions of tolerance, hospitality and peaceful coexistence, adding that those behind the attack were enemies of both the nation and its shared values.

Call for Enhanced Security

Emphasising the need for robust measures to protect vulnerable communities, he urged the authorities to strengthen security arrangements for places of worship and ensure that every citizen could practise their faith without fear. Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Humayun Khan said the Pakistan Peoples Party stood firmly with the victims and called for swift and decisive action against those responsible for the attack.
