Shangla Bar Supports Judicial Employees’ Demands, Warns of Unrest
Shangla Bar Backs Judicial Staff, Warns of Disruption

The District Bar Association Shangla has expressed unequivocal support for the demands of the All Pakistan Judicial Employees Association, urging the government and judicial authorities to address the employees’ grievances without delay to safeguard the smooth functioning of the justice system.

Bar President Highlights Employees' Role

In a statement issued on Sunday, District Bar Association President Suleman Shah Advocate described judicial employees as an indispensable component of the country’s judicial framework, saying the efficient administration of justice depends on their commitment and professionalism. He said the concerns of judicial staff should be resolved through constructive engagement, warning that prolonged neglect could undermine both employee morale and the effective operation of courts.

Symbolic Protests Underway

Judicial employees across the province are currently observing symbolic protests by wearing black armbands during court proceedings to press for the acceptance of their long-standing demands. Suleman Shah said the peaceful campaign reflected growing frustration over unresolved professional and administrative issues. “The employees have chosen a constitutional and democratic way to voice their concerns while continuing to discharge their duties,” he said. “It is now incumbent upon the government, the judiciary and the relevant authorities to respond positively and find a practical solution.”

Appeal to Chief Justice

The bar president also appealed to the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court to take personal interest in the matter and issue appropriate directions to facilitate an early resolution of the employees’ concerns. He cautioned that while the ongoing protest remains peaceful, any continued delay in addressing the issues could lead to greater unrest, potentially disrupting the judicial environment and court administration.

Legal Fraternity Expresses Solidarity

Meanwhile, members of the legal fraternity and several lawyers’ chambers announced their full support for the Judicial Employees Association, reaffirming their commitment to the independence of the judiciary, the rule of law and the strengthening of judicial institutions. Lawyers said judges, advocates and judicial staff form an interconnected system in which the efficiency of one component directly affects the performance of the others. They argued that protecting the legitimate rights and welfare of judicial employees is essential for maintaining a responsive and effective justice system.

Call for Dialogue and Timely Resolution

Senior lawyers expressed hope that the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, the Registrar’s Office and other relevant authorities would engage with employee representatives and resolve the matter through dialogue and mutual understanding. They maintained that a timely and amicable settlement would not only boost staff morale but also enhance the efficiency, stability and public credibility of the judicial system.
