The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has formally requested additional security forces from the federal government, citing a deteriorating law and order situation and ongoing protests by the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (Jaac). The request, sent by the AJK Home Department to Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, seeks the immediate deployment of 4,000 personnel from the Federal Constabulary and seven wings of the Pakistan Rangers to help maintain peace and security across the region.

Urgent Deployment Request

The home department's letter emphasizes the urgency of the situation, stating that law and order has been severely impacted by Jaac's protest activities. It specifically mentions an ongoing sit-in in Rawalakot and protest actions in other districts. The communication notes that four security personnel have been martyred and 174 others injured during the unrest, underscoring the need for immediate reinforcement.

Equipment and Anti-Riot Gear Required

In addition to personnel, the AJK government has requested that the additional security forces be equipped with weapons and anti-riot gear to effectively handle any law and order challenges. The letter describes the situation as serious, stressing that the immediate deployment of federal forces is indispensable to maintain peace and ensure public safety in the region.
