KP Police Expands Sensitive Districts for Muharram Security

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department has expanded its list of sensitive districts ahead of Muharram-ul-Haram, placing six additional districts under heightened security monitoring. According to a security assessment report prepared by the provincial police, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Kurram have been classified as extremely sensitive districts during Muharram.

Deployment of Personnel

To maintain law and order, authorities plan to deploy more than 43,000 police personnel across 14 districts of the province during the holy month. The report stated that Frontier Corps (FC) platoons will also be stationed in extremely sensitive districts to assist police in security duties. Police officials said security arrangements would further be strengthened with support from the Pakistan Army where required.

Mobile Service Suspension

In a letter sent to the Home Department, the police have requested partial suspension of mobile phone services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram as part of security measures. The report added that aerial surveillance of mourning procession routes will be carried out in both sensitive and extremely sensitive districts.

Anti-Drone System

An anti-drone system will also remain operational in the extremely sensitive areas throughout Muharram to prevent any security threats.
