The repatriation of illegally residing foreign nationals from Punjab is continuing under the federal government's ongoing policy, with more than 35,000 individuals deported from the province so far, according to Punjab Police.
Repatriation Details
A police spokesperson said a total of 35,216 foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, had been repatriated from Lahore and other parts of Punjab. He added that 208 individuals were currently being housed at holding centres awaiting deportation.
According to official figures, those repatriated included 13,766 men, 7,061 women and 14,389 children.
Document Holders Among Deportees
The spokesperson said 10,954 of the deported individuals possessed proof-of-residence documents, while 11,131 were holders of Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC). Another 13,131 foreign nationals residing in the country illegally were also repatriated.
Operation Oversight
Punjab Police said the operation was being carried out in accordance with government policy and relevant laws. Security agencies and district administrations were jointly overseeing the registration, verification and repatriation process across the province.
The spokesperson added that all necessary facilities were being provided at holding centres established for the identification and processing of foreign nationals, while authorities remained engaged in ensuring that the repatriation process was conducted in an organised and secure manner.
