Authorities in Quetta have significantly ramped up security across the provincial capital after receiving a credible threat alert, deploying large contingents of Frontier Corps (FC), police, and other law enforcement agencies in a coordinated effort to maintain law and order.
Deployment and Checkpoints
Security personnel have been positioned at major entry and exit points, key roads, commercial hubs, markets, public squares, and government installations. Teams are conducting snap checking, vehicle inspections, and identity verification of commuters to prevent any untoward incident.
The Quetta–Karachi National Highway, which was closed for nearly 24 hours due to security concerns, has been reopened for all traffic. Passenger buses and freight vehicles have resumed movement, though strict screening continues at multiple checkpoints along the route.
Enhanced Surveillance and Public Advisory
Officials said surveillance around sensitive installations, public institutions, educational facilities, and other vital locations has been significantly enhanced, with additional personnel kept on standby for rapid response. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the heightened security phase and to carry valid identification documents and vehicle papers to avoid delays at checkpoints.
According to security officials, the measures are purely precautionary, aimed at safeguarding public lives and ensuring peace in the city.
