Rain, Strong Winds, Thunderstorms Predicted Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country, prompting the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to issue a weather alert. The wet spell is expected to affect regions including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Additionally, some areas of north-eastern and southern Balochistan may also receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms.

NDMA Warnings and Advisory

The NDMA has cautioned the public about slippery roads and reduced visibility during the wet spell. Strong winds may also impact power systems and vulnerable infrastructure. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to flooding or landslides. The authority emphasized the importance of staying informed through official channels.

Monsoon 2026 Outlook

The Pakistan Meteorological Department, in its forecast for the 2026 monsoon season, predicted below-normal rainfall in most parts of the country from June to August. However, northern regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan, adjoining areas of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir, are expected to receive near-normal to slightly above-normal rainfall. Temperatures are likely to remain above normal across the country from July to September 2026.
