Sindh Government Announces Ashura Holidays

The Government of Sindh has officially declared June 25 and 26 as public holidays throughout the province to mark Ashura (9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH). The announcement was made through a notification issued on Monday.

Scope of the Holiday

According to the notification, the public holiday applies to all offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Government of Sindh. Essential services are exempted from the holiday to ensure continuity of critical operations.

Observance of Ashura

Ashura, observed on the 10th of Muharram, is a significant day for Muslims worldwide, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) at the Battle of Karbala. The two-day holiday allows for religious observances and processions across Sindh.
