WAH CANTT – A comprehensive security blueprint for Muharram-ul-Haram was finalized in Taxila on Sunday as SP Pothohar Sardar Babar Mumtaz Khan presided over a high-level consultative session with key stakeholders. The meeting aimed to review arrangements to ensure peace, public safety, and uninterrupted religious observances throughout the holy month.
Meeting Attendees and Discussions
The gathering included the SDPO Taxila, Station House Officers (SHOs), members of the Peace Committee, representatives of traders’ bodies, caretakers of Imambargahs, and organizers of Muharram processions. During the session, the SP announced that robust security measures would be enforced at all Majalis and processions. Attendees will be required to pass through walk-through gates and undergo thorough security screening in line with approved protocols.
Strict Adherence to SOPs
He directed organizers to strictly adhere to designated routes, approved timings, and prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), emphasizing that all events must commence and conclude according to schedule. Sardar Babar Mumtaz Khan underscored that the code of conduct and security guidelines issued by the Punjab Home Department for Muharram-ul-Haram would be implemented in letter and spirit, warning that any violation of the approved framework would not be tolerated.
Stakeholder Cooperation
On this occasion, the participants assured the police and district administration of their full cooperation and commitment to complying with all security directives. Reaffirming the administration’s resolve to maintain a peaceful environment, the SP said all available resources were being mobilized to protect lives and property. He stressed that close coordination among law enforcement agencies, religious leaders, community representatives, and procession organizers remained vital for fostering religious harmony and ensuring the peaceful observance of Muharram across the region.
