The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission on Friday allocated reserved seats for women and technocrats in the G-B Assembly after notifying 21 successful candidates elected on general seats in the elections held earlier this month.
Withheld Results
The commission stated that the results of three constituencies - GBA-9 Skardu-III, GBA-15 Diamer-I and GBA-17 Diamer-III - have been withheld after the Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court suspended the election results in those constituencies.
Elected Members on General Seats
The elected members on general seats, as notified by Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan, are:
- Amjad Hussain from GBA-1 Gilgit-I
- Hafeezur Rehman from GBA-2 Gilgit-II
- Syed Suhail Abbas from GBA-3 Gilgit-III
- Muhammad Ali Akhtar from GBA-4 Nagar-I
- Zulfiqar Ali Murad from GBA-5 Nagar-II
- Neknam Karim from GBA-6 Hunza
- Syed Tauqeer Mehdi from GBA-7 Skardu-I
- Muhammad Kazim from GBA-8 Skardu-II
- Nasir Ali Khan from GBA-10 Skardu-IV
- Iqbal Hassan from GBA-11 Kharmang
- Imran Nadeem from GBA-12 Shigar
- Rana Farman Ali from GBA-13 Astore-I
- Rana Muhammad Farooq from GBA-14 Astore-II
- Imam Malik from GBA-16 Diamer-II

Reserved Seats Allocation
Later, a separate notification stated that the six reserved seats for women and three technocrat seats had been allocated to political parties from their priority lists, in accordance with their strength in the newly elected house.
Women Reserved Seats
Among the women's seats, three were allocated to the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), two to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and one to the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). The PPPP nominees declared successful are Kalsoom Jahangir, Sadia Danish and Sobia Jabeen. The PML-N's successful candidates are Sajida Begum and Jennifer Bahadur, while Dilshad Bano secured the seat allocated to the IPP.
Technocrat Reserved Seats
Similarly, Muhammad Sharif of the PPPP, Sahib Khan of the PML-N and Muhammad Ali of the IPP were declared successful on the three reserved technocrat seats, in accordance with the priority lists submitted by their respective parties.
Legal Formalities
The Election Commission said the notifications were issued after completion of all legal requirements, adding that the notifications of successful candidates have formally taken effect with their issuance. The commission reiterated that notifications have been issued for 21 successful members on general seats, while the results of three constituencies remain withheld under the directions of the Supreme Appellate Court.
