Lahore police have unveiled a comprehensive security plan for the upcoming Muharram observances, covering 458 processions across the city. The plan aims to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order during the Islamic month of mourning.
Security Deployment
Thousands of police personnel will be deployed along procession routes and at key locations. The force will include elite units, traffic police, and female officers to manage crowds and respond to any emergencies. Snipers will be positioned on rooftops, and surveillance cameras will monitor the proceedings.
Traffic Management
Traffic diversions have been planned to minimize disruption. Specific routes will be closed during processions, and alternative paths will be designated for commuters. Citizens are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
- Over 10,000 police officers will be on duty.
- Rapid response teams will be stationed at strategic points.
- Walk-through gates and metal detectors will be used at entry points.
Lahore police have also coordinated with intelligence agencies to preempt any threats. The plan includes strict monitoring of social media to counter hate speech and misinformation. Citizens are urged to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activity.
