The rainfall, which ranged from light to heavy intensity, impacted numerous districts including Swat, Bannu, Hangu, Nowshera, Tank, Bajaur, Karak, Parachinar, Malakand, as well as North and South Waziristan. The precipitation began on March 25 and has continued intermittently, leading to widespread damage.

Abbottabad House Collapse Tragedy

In a particularly heartbreaking incident in Abbottabad, the roof of a residential house collapsed under the weight of the rain, killing five people and seriously injuring a woman. Among the deceased were four young girls, highlighting the vulnerability of children in such disasters. This single event accounted for a significant portion of the overall casualties.

PDMA Report Details Casualties and Damage

According to the official PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa report, the structural failures included both roofs and walls collapsing. The 17 fatalities comprised:

  • 14 children
  • 1 man
  • 2 women

In addition to the human toll, the rains damaged 11 houses, with specific incidents reported in Bannu and North Waziristan. The report underscores the severe impact of the weather on infrastructure and communities across the province.
