Historic Jirga Brings Permanent End to Blood Feud in Rawalpindi Village

In a landmark event for community harmony, a long-standing blood feud between two families in village Venus, a prominent suburban area under the jurisdiction of Chountra Police Station in Rawalpindi district, has been formally and permanently resolved through a grand jirga. This significant gathering marked the culmination of years of intense hostility, with elders from both families embracing one another in a powerful gesture of reconciliation.

Key Figures Facilitate Peaceful Resolution

Malik Abrar of Suroba village played a central and pivotal role in facilitating this historic reconciliation. He successfully brought together elders, friends, and community leaders from both sides to participate in the jirga. Among the notable attendees were Chaudhry Mudassar of Pind Malho, Malik Abrar Suroba, Malik Fayaz Suroba, Malik Azhar, Malik Ahsan, Malik Tariq Patwari, Malik Shoaib, Malik Wasim Suroba, Malik Abid, Malik Abdul Mannan, and members of the Maskin Group. It was during this assembly that both communities formally reconciled and declared the blood feud permanently resolved, setting a precedent for peace in the region.

Political and Social Leaders Support Reconciliation Efforts

The jirga also saw the presence of prominent political and social figures, underscoring the broader community support for this peace initiative. National Assembly candidate from Constituency NA-53 retired Colonel Ajmal Sabir Raja, PP-10 MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Ameer Afzal, former Union Council Nazim Kolian Hameed, retired Colonel Nawaz Malik, and other religious, political, and social leaders attended the event. Their participation highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in resolving deep-seated conflicts and promoting social cohesion.

Act of Forgiveness Strengthens Peace Accord

In a profound demonstration of generosity and spiritual commitment, Raja Rab Nawaz of Venus forgave the murder of his son, Ziaul Haq, for the sake of Allah during the jirga proceedings. This act of forgiveness was a crucial element in solidifying the peace agreement, as it helped to heal old wounds and foster a spirit of mutual respect and understanding between the families. Such gestures are essential for building lasting peace and preventing future conflicts in the community.

The successful resolution of this blood feud through traditional jirga mechanisms not only brings relief to the involved families but also serves as an inspiring example for other communities facing similar disputes. It emphasizes the enduring value of dialogue, mediation, and forgiveness in achieving sustainable peace and harmony in society.
