Abbottabad Issues Heat Wave Alert for June 8-11
The district administration of Abbottabad has issued a heat wave alert, warning residents of unusually high temperatures and intense heat conditions expected from June 8 to June 11. An official advisory has directed all relevant departments to remain vigilant and implement precautionary measures to minimize the impact of the forecast heat wave.
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, particularly between 10 am and 5 pm when temperatures are expected to peak. The administration advises the public to drink plenty of water and other fluids, wear light and loose-fitting clothing, and take extra care of children, elderly people, and others vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
Farmers and livestock owners are also urged to make adequate arrangements to protect animals from heat stress and ensure the availability of water and shade. Officials said emergency response services will remain on alert throughout the forecast period to deal with any heat-related incidents.
For emergencies or assistance, residents may contact the District Control Room Abbottabad at 0992-9310553, Rescue 1122 at 1122, and the PDMA Helpline at 1700. The administration urged citizens to follow safety guidelines and remain informed about weather updates during the heat wave period.
