MUZAFFARGARH - A sharp increase in ice prices has been reported in Muzaffargarh district amid intense heat, where alleged profiteering by ice factory owners has pushed the price of a single ice block up to Rs1,000. According to citizens, ice blocks purchased from Multan for around Rs600 are being sold at extremely inflated rates in Muzaffargarh, causing serious difficulties for low and middle-income families.
Heatwave Intensifies Ice Shortage
The ongoing heatwave and shortage of ice have further intensified public concerns in the region. Residents say that even access to cold drinking water, considered a basic necessity during extreme weather, is gradually moving beyond their reach. The soaring temperatures have made life unbearable, especially for those who cannot afford the inflated prices.
Citizens Demand Strict Action
Citizens demanded the district administration to take immediate notice of the situation and initiate action against those involved in overpricing. They also demanded strict government control over ice prices to provide relief to the public. Many fear that without intervention, the situation will worsen as the heatwave continues.
