Jeddah United made history this week by winning the first-ever Saudi U-17 First Division League for girls. The final, held at King Abdulaziz University Stadium in Jeddah, ended in a 1-1 draw after regular time. Jeddah United then triumphed over Najmat Jeddah in a penalty shootout to claim the championship.
Promotion to the Premier League
Both Jeddah United and Najmat Jeddah have earned promotion to the U-17 Premier League for the 2026-27 season. This achievement highlights the progress and ambition of both clubs. In the third-place playoff, Al-Angaa defeated Manjaum Al-Mawahib 3-2.
Pathway for Young Players
The creation of the First Division League and the promotion pathway to the Premier League is part of a long-term strategy to develop girls' football in Saudi Arabia. It provides young players with a clear route to higher levels of competition and eventually to senior women's football.
Individual Awards
Three players were recognized for their outstanding performances during the season: Nada Al-Otaibi (Al-Angaa) won the top scorer award; Lina Jafar (Najmat Jeddah) was named the most outstanding player; and Ward Maharji (Jeddah United) received the best goalkeeper award.
