Five members of the same family, including three children, were killed when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a speeding SUV near Gambat in Khairpur district. The deceased were identified as Sikandar Jogi, his wife Rozina, and their children Abdul Qadeer, Fida Hussain and Dua Batool. The couple's fourth child, Waseem, sustained critical injuries and was admitted to hospital.
Incident Details
According to Gambat police, the family was travelling from Karachi to their native village, Papri, when the accident occurred on the National Highway near Gambat. All five victims were rushed to Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital, where doctors declared Sikandar, Rozina and the three children dead on arrival. Waseem is under treatment.
Police Action and Investigation
Police said the SUV involved in the crash was impounded and its driver arrested. Preliminary investigations suggest overspeeding by the SUV driver caused the accident. Following the incident, Director of Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences Dr Rahim Bux Bhutti visited the hospital, directed special medical care for the injured child, and made personal arrangements for the burial of the deceased. An emergency was declared at GIMS Hospital to manage the situation.
