KHANEWAL: Four men lost their lives in a targeted attack near the Khanewal Toll Plaza on Monday when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on their vehicle. Police suspect the assault was motivated by an old enmity.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as cousins Majeed Khan Niazi and Ismail Khan Niazi, along with their associates Hidayatullah Mahar and his nephew Zakaullah Mahar. All were residents of village 30-10-R and were traveling to attend a court hearing related to a case registered at Kacha Khoh police station.
Attack Details
Witnesses reported that the attackers, traveling in a car and three motorcycles, surrounded the victims' vehicle near the 84-10-R crossing close to the Khanewal Toll Plaza. They fired from multiple directions, causing critical injuries. The bullet-riddled car continued moving before crashing into a water tank outside a tyre shop. All four victims succumbed to their injuries shortly after.

Legal Proceedings
An FIR was registered at City Police Station Khanewal on the complaint of the victims' relatives. DPO Muhammad Abid Warraich stated that forensic experts collected evidence, including spent bullet casings, and CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined. Multiple police teams have been formed to arrest the suspects, and the DPO expressed confidence that those involved will soon be brought to justice.
