Heated Rivalry has extended its remarkable awards-season run by becoming one of the most nominated shows at the 2026 Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards. The acclaimed hockey romance series earned five nominations, tying with HBO's Industry and Apple TV+'s Widow's Bay for the most nods this year.
Major Nominations
Among its key nominations are Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, and Outstanding New Program. The show's stars, Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, will face each other in the Individual Achievement in Drama category, one of the ceremony's most anticipated races.
Individual Achievement in Drama
Storrie and Williams are among ten nominees in the expanded gender-neutral category. They compete against performers such as Noah Wyle (The Pitt), Marisa Abela (Industry), Ken Leung (Industry), Myha'la (Industry), Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), David Harbour (DTF St. Louis), Katherine LaNasa (The Pitt), and Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus).
Breakout Year
The nominations mark another milestone for the Canadian drama, which has enjoyed a breakout year despite being ineligible for the Primetime Emmy Awards due to its production status. The series has become one of television's most celebrated new dramas, earning widespread critical acclaim and building a passionate fanbase.
Creative Team and Premise
Created by Jacob Tierney and based on Rachel Reid's bestselling novel, Heated Rivalry follows the complex relationship between rival hockey stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, played by Williams and Storrie respectively. The series premiered in late 2025 and quickly became a critical and commercial success.
Previous Accolades
The TCA recognition follows the show's dominant performance at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards, where it broke records by winning 16 awards, including Best Drama Series.
Program of the Year Contenders
Other contenders for Program of the Year include The Pitt, Hacks, Industry, The Comeback, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Pluribus, and Widow's Bay. Winners of the 2026 TCA Awards will be announced later this summer.
