Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed has been elected unopposed for a fourth term as President of Lahore Region Cricket Association (LRCA), reaffirming the cricket fraternity's overwhelming confidence in an administrator widely credited with transforming Lahore's domestic cricket landscape through sustained reforms and long-term planning.
Background and experience
A former first-class cricketer, Khawaja Nadeem has spent more than a decade rebuilding the region's cricket structure, placing particular emphasis on grassroots development, merit-based selection, player welfare and institutional stability. Since first taking office in 2010, he has spearheaded initiatives that revived club cricket, expanded competitive opportunities and strengthened Lahore's standing in Pakistan's domestic circuit.
Key achievements
Among his most notable achievements was the successful revival of club cricket through a 132-team regional tournament, a landmark initiative that restored competitive activity at a time when the game's grassroots structure was struggling. His administration later established Lahore Region's first structured cricket academy, providing professional coaching, modern facilities and scholarships to talented youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds.
Khawaja Nadeem also introduced innovative competitions such as the Challenge Cup, a model that was later adopted more broadly within Pakistan's domestic system, while replacing traditional trial-based selection with a performance-driven approach that reinforced merit and transparency. The reforms translated into consistent success on the field, with Lahore Region capturing multiple national titles across age-group and senior competitions during his tenure.
Election victory and support
His latest election victory, coupled with his panel securing all 15 seats across Lahore's five zones, reflects the strong backing he continues to enjoy from the region's cricket clubs. As he begins another term, Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed's focus remains firmly on strengthening the foundations of Lahore cricket and nurturing the next generation of players through sustainable development rather than short-term success.
