Pakistan has officially granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Indian men’s volleyball team, clearing the way for its participation in the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Islamabad from July 22 to 29. Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob confirmed that the Indian authorities have been formally informed following the government’s approval and expressed optimism that the visiting team will compete in the regional tournament.
Coordination between federations
According to Yaqoob, the Volleyball Federation of India had earlier requested political clearance and a security guarantee from Pakistan to facilitate approval from the Indian government and complete the visa process. He added that both federations remained in close coordination throughout the process. The PVF chief said all organizational, logistical and security arrangements for the championship have been finalized, describing the event as one of the biggest international volleyball competitions ever staged in Pakistan.
Significance of the event
The CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship is a regional tournament organized by the Central Asian Volleyball Association. Hosting such an event in Islamabad underscores Pakistan’s capability to organize international sports events despite regional tensions. The participation of the Indian team is seen as a positive step towards sports diplomacy between the two neighboring countries.
