Australia recovered through half-centuries from Josh Inglis, who scored 51, and Cameron Green, who contributed 53. Matt Renshaw added 43 runs, while Oliver Peake chipped in with 31. Despite those contributions, Pakistan maintained pressure throughout the innings and picked up wickets at regular intervals to prevent Australia from posting a bigger total.

Shaheen Afridi led the bowling attack with figures of 3 for 36, while Arafat Minhas, Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed claimed two wickets each. Pakistan entered the match with confidence after their victory in the opening ODI, where Arafat Minhas starred on debut with a five-wicket haul.
While the Rawalpindi surface favoured spin bowling, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium has traditionally produced batting-friendly conditions and several high-scoring encounters in recent years.
