World Cup Underway

The World Cup is in full swing, with all three host nations—Canada, Mexico, and the US—having played their opening games. Saudi Arabia's Group H campaign begins against Uruguay on Tuesday in Miami. The Green Falcons will also face Spain and Cape Verde, with fans hopeful for a knockout stage appearance for only the second time, following their memorable run at the 1994 World Cup in the US.

Team Preparations in Texas

While fans celebrated in Florida, Saudi head coach Georgios Donis led the team through a closed training session at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Midfielder Abdullah Al-Khaibari told media that the squad has been working diligently in daily sessions and tactical meetings to fully grasp Donis' strategies, noting the coach's two-month tenure. He also acknowledged the contributions of former coach Herve Renard.

Referee's Pride

He emphasized that his selection reflects years of hard work by everyone in Saudi football, including the AFC Referees Academy, which provided the confidence and skills needed to compete at the highest level. "Participating in this tournament means a great deal to me. As a Saudi citizen, it is a tremendous honor to be present and represent the Kingdom among the world's best referees," he said.
