LAHORE - Shariz Ahmad delivered a dominant all-round performance to help Stockholm City defeat Malmo Mavericks by 10 wickets in the Nordic Smash T20 Cup 2026. Stockholm comfortably chased a revised DLS target of 81 runs in just five overs.
Malmo Innings
Earlier, Malmo Mavericks posted a competitive total of 167-6 in their allotted 20 overs. Zain Ali top-scored with a brisk 49 runs off 25 balls, but Stockholm's bowlers kept the scoring in check. Right-arm bowler Shariz Ahmad was the pick of the attack, claiming three crucial wickets for 24 runs.
Rain Adjustment and Chase
Following a rain delay, Stockholm City were set a revised target of 81 runs from eight overs under the DLS method. The chase turned into a one-sided affair as openers Zain Naqvi and Musa Ahmad launched a blistering assault on the Mavericks' bowling attack.
Naqvi smashed a sparkling 52 off just 20 balls, while Musa Ahmad remained unbeaten on 21 off 12 deliveries. The duo guided Stockholm to 81-0 in just five overs, sealing a comprehensive victory.
For his match-winning bowling performance (3-24), Shariz Ahmad was deservedly named Player of the Match.
Separately, Lahore police have unveiled a comprehensive security plan for Muharram, covering 458 processions across the city. The plan includes deployment of additional personnel and strict monitoring to ensure peace and order during the holy month.
