In a display of athletic excellence, Muhammad Akhtar of the Pakistan Army successfully defended his title by winning the 6-kilometre main race at the 5th Sandal Bar Sports Festival. The event concluded in Nankana Sahib with vibrant participation from athletes across the country, highlighting a strong commitment to sports development.
Festival Aims to Promote Sports Culture
Organised in connection with Pakistan Day under the leadership of Ch Nazir Hussain Gujjar, the festival was designed to promote sports culture and provide a crucial platform for emerging talent. Race Results and Prize Distribution
Akhtar clinched first place and a cash prize of PKR 100,000, demonstrating his prowess in long-distance running. Muhammad Saleem of Jhang secured second position, while Zain Ali of Kasur took third, showcasing competitive spirit from various regions.
In the mid-race category, Saqlain Shahid emerged victorious, with Asif Ali and Fakhar Zaman following in second and third places, respectively. These results reflect the depth of talent present at the festival.
Senior and Girls' Events Add Excitement
The senior events featured notable performances, with Muhammad Irfan excelling in the 50+ category and Tariq Javed leading the 60+ race. Meanwhile, the girls' race added significant excitement to the festival, as Aqsa Allah Ditta of Zainab Hussain Girls High School finished first, ahead of Amber Mughal and Anisha Ishaq, highlighting the growing participation of female athletes.
