Schlage Sense Pro UWB Smart Lock Launches June 29 for $399
Schlage Sense Pro UWB Smart Lock Launches June 29

Schlage has finally announced the launch date for its first ultra wideband (UWB) smart lock, the Sense Pro. After being unveiled over a year ago at CES 2025, the deadbolt lock will be available for purchase starting June 29th in the United States at a price of $399. This device enables users to unlock their doors simply by approaching them with a compatible smartphone or smartwatch, eliminating the need for physical keys or biometric authentication.

How the Schlage Sense Pro Works

The Sense Pro leverages Schlage's proprietary Converge technology for UWB, which requires a home key stored on a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. The lock calculates the user's speed, trajectory, and motion to automatically unlock the door upon arrival. This hands-free experience is designed to provide seamless entry without any manual intervention.

Matter over Thread and Smart Home Integration

As Schlage's first lock to support Matter over Thread, the Sense Pro can pair with a Thread-enabled Apple Home hub, such as select Apple TV 4K or HomePod models. This ensures consistent, low-latency performance within smart home ecosystems. Additionally, the lock is compatible with Aliro, the smart lock standard that supports UWB hands-free unlocking and NFC tap-to-unlock.

Schlage has stated that the Sense Pro is expected to support Aliro digital keys in Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet later this year. This will enable UWB-enabled Google and Samsung devices to use hands-free unlocking or tap-to-unlock via NFC.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Remote Management

The Sense Pro includes built-in Wi-Fi, allowing users to manage the lock remotely through the Schlage Home app or the Apple Home app. It offers up to six months of battery life under standard use, according to Schlage. A built-in USB-C port provides temporary power if the batteries run out, ensuring the lock remains functional. Users can monitor battery status via a low-battery indicator on the touchscreen.

Comparison with Other UWB Locks

Currently, the only other lock supporting hands-free Aliro UWB unlocking is the Aqara U400, which launched earlier this year at $270. When tested by a colleague at CES 2025, the Sense Pro unlocked automatically on approach despite significant RF interference on the show floor. With the official launch, consumers will finally be able to verify if this performance holds up in real-world home environments.
