Apple has updated its Sports app with a new CarPlay widget, allowing users to follow live sports scores directly from their car's dashboard. The feature, part of the iOS 26 version of CarPlay, lets users choose between a league widget or a teams widget to display live scores and schedules.
CarPlay Widget Features
The league widget shows live scores and schedules for a specific sport or league, while the teams widget follows your favorite teams. Both widgets display live scores, but they do not update in real time. During a test of the Crystal Palace versus West Ham Premier League match, the game timer did not progress instantaneously. Despite this, the new widget interface is less cluttered than the Live Activities feature, allowing users to stack three widgets side-by-side in many cars.
Additional Enhancements
Apple has also introduced new F1 tracking features in the Sports app. F1 fans can now view weather conditions for each race, including track temperature and wind speed. Additionally, the app is prepared for this year's World Cup, offering a feature to follow favorite teams and view group lists before the tournament begins in June.
These updates aim to enhance the user experience for sports enthusiasts, providing convenient access to scores and information while on the go.
