Google Android 17, Wear OS 7, and Android XR Updates Roll Out
Android 17, Wear OS 7, Android XR Updates Announced

Google has officially rolled out its latest updates, including Android 17, Wear OS 7, and the new Android XR platform. The Android 17 update brings several notable features designed to enhance multitasking and user experience. Among the highlights are floating 'Bubble' app windows, which allow users to access apps in smaller, movable windows for easier multitasking. Additionally, a new Screen Reaction recording mode captures on-screen reactions, and a 50/50 split gaming mode optimizes gameplay on foldable phones by dividing the screen equally for controls and content.

Wear OS 7 Enhancements

Wear OS 7 introduces Live Updates, providing real-time information directly on the watch face, and improved battery life for smartwatches. The update also lays the groundwork for connectivity with upcoming Android XR smart glasses, which are expected to launch this fall. These glasses will integrate with the Android ecosystem to offer augmented reality experiences.

Rollout and Availability

The update is initially rolling out to Pixel phones, with other devices to follow. Some features, such as Gemini Intelligence, are scheduled to debut later this year. Google has not yet specified a timeline for all features to be available across all devices.
