The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh has arrested a key terrorist, Salman alias Abu Huraira, who was planning a major suicide attack in Karachi, according to a CTD spokesperson. The suspect is a close associate of the slain terrorist Zafran alias Abu Huraira.
Details of the Arrest
The CTD spokesperson stated that Salman was apprehended and found to be directly involved in an attack on foreign nationals at Liberty Textile. During the arrest, law enforcement recovered a suicide jacket, maps, and photographs of sensitive areas from the suspect. Officials confirmed that Salman was preparing for a large-scale suicide bombing in Karachi, acting on instructions from Molvi Mukhlis Yar.
Training and Plans
Authorities claimed that Salman received specialized commando training for suicide attacks outside the country, specifically in Afghanistan. Investigators revealed that the accused arrived in Karachi along with another suspect, Idris alias Asadullah, and their initial objective was to carry out targeted killings in the city. The CTD spokesperson added that the arrival of additional suicide attackers was expected, and joint law enforcement teams have launched raids to apprehend them.
Legal Action and Investigation
Police have registered cases against Salman under anti-terrorism and explosives laws. FIRs have been filed at the CTD police station under the Terrorism and Explosives Act. The CTD stated that further investigation is underway, and the accused is being questioned. Officials anticipate more disclosures and arrests as the probe continues.
