A new heatwave gripping much of France has prompted the cancellation of dozens of train services and the adjustment or suspension of classes at several schools, as temperatures are forecast to reach 40°C in the coming days.
Orange Weather Alerts Issued Across France
Authorities have placed approximately a quarter of the country, including the capital Paris, under an orange weather alert. Residents are urged to exercise caution and stay well hydrated as the heatwave intensifies.
Temperature Forecast and Duration
Météo-France expects the heatwave to persist into next week, with temperatures likely to peak on Sunday or Monday. Temperatures could reach as high as 40°C, including in Paris.
Previously, it was reported that global surface air and sea surface temperatures in May reached the second-highest level on record, according to the latest analysis from the Copernicus Climate Change Service.
