The Governor of Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, has declared that the current era is defined by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and that providing children and young people with modern technological skills is an urgent necessity. He made these remarks while addressing a press conference after inaugurating an AI Summer Camp for children at the Governor House in Karachi.
AI Camp Aligned with PM's Vision
Governor Hashmi emphasized that Pakistan's future is intrinsically linked to modern education, information technology, and artificial intelligence. He stated that the AI Summer Camp has been launched specifically to prepare the younger generation for future demands. According to the governor, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's vision places special emphasis on AI, and concrete steps are being taken to promote this sector. He assured that talented children and young people will not be held back due to a lack of resources; instead, they will be provided equal access to modern education and technology.
Continuation of Laptop Scheme Legacy
The governor recalled that the laptop scheme initiated by former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was a significant initiative to connect young people with modern education. He described the AI Summer Camp as another important step in the same direction. By providing AI education to talented children in Karachi, he said, they are being equipped to meet future challenges. Nehal Hashmi expressed his dream to see every child in Sindh equipped with modern education and playing a meaningful role in building a developed and prosperous Pakistan.
Merit-Based Admissions and Productive Vacations
Governor Hashmi announced that admission to the AI Summer Camp will be granted strictly on merit to every child who knows how to use a mobile phone. He said the camp's objective is to transform children's summer vacations into a productive period filled with learning, creativity, and skill development. He further stated that the prime minister's vision is to significantly increase Pakistan's exports, and a technologically skilled younger generation will play a pivotal role in achieving this national objective.
National and Global Context
Nehal Hashmi also remarked that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan's stature has been elevated on the global stage. He predicted that today's children will lead the IT and AI revolution in Pakistan tomorrow, further enhancing the country's reputation through their talent and achievements. He added that children are the nation's identity and future, and therefore they should be provided with the best opportunities to learn and develop their skills even during school vacations.
