In a significant move to enhance user security, Yango Ride, a service of the global technology firm Yango Group, has launched a comprehensive update to its safety features within its application in Pakistan. This initiative is designed to provide passengers with greater transparency and control over their safety during every journey.
Core Features of the New Safety Update
The updated application introduces a personalized safety checklist and a brand new safety center. This allows passengers to view the real-time status of all active security measures throughout their ride. The safety center also offers valuable tips for before and during the trip, creating a more informed travel experience.
Miral Sharif, the Country Manager for Yango Pakistan, emphasized the company's commitment, stating, "Safety is our highest priority at Yango, and we believe it’s essential not only to implement robust safety measures and security technologies, but also to make them visible and transparent to every user." She added that with these new features, passengers can now see exactly what protective measures are in place from the moment they book a ride until it concludes.
How the New Safety Center Protects You
The new safety center acts as a personal security dashboard. It displays a list of required actions for passengers, such as reading onboarding materials, filling in personal details, adding trusted contacts, and updating their email. If any item is incomplete, the app will clearly mark it and prompt the user to take the necessary action.
Furthermore, passengers have one-click access to learn about partner driver standards, procedures for getting help during a conflict or accident, and detailed explanations of each security feature. The main screen of the app permanently features quick-access buttons for an SOS signal and immediate support in case of any emergency.
Technology Behind the Enhanced Security
The security level displayed in the app is calculated based on several critical factors that are continuously monitored. These include a rigorous driver verification process where partner drivers must upload photographs of the front and back of their driver’s license, along with a selfie holding the license. The system cross-checks these details, and drivers cannot accept orders until this verification is successfully completed.
The app also utilizes GPS to track the driver's route and speed, comparing it against the maximum allowed speed for that road section. A sophisticated driving behavior monitoring system processes data from the driver's smartphone sensors to detect sudden acceleration, harsh braking, or aggressive maneuvering. Following an episode of unsafe driving, a warning is sent to the driver, and repeated ignorance of these warnings can lead to restricted access to the service.
Adding another layer of protection, both passengers and partner drivers are fully insured during all active Yango rides, ensuring financial safety for both parties in the unfortunate event of an accident.
This safety update is being rolled out gradually and will be available to all Yango Ride users in Pakistan in the near future.
