Over 24 Illegal LPG Filling Points Sealed in Dera Ghazi Khan
24 Illegal LPG Filling Points Sealed in DG Khan

Authorities in Dera Ghazi Khan sealed over 24 illegal liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling points operating across the district during a joint operation, officials confirmed. The operation was conducted by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with other relevant departments, targeting outlets that were filling gas into vehicle cylinders in violation of safety regulations.

Joint Operation Targets Illegal Filling Points

RTA Secretary Nazar Hussain stated that the operation was carried out following reports of widespread illegal LPG filling activities. During inspections, officials discovered numerous unauthorized filling points where gas was being transferred to vehicle cylinders without adherence to mandatory safety protocols. The outlets were immediately sealed, and their owners were issued strict warnings against continuing such illegal practices in the future, Hussain added.

Safety Violations and Substandard Materials

Inspectors also found that several workshops lacked adequate safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and proper ventilation systems. Some establishments were using expired or substandard materials for LPG refilling, posing serious risks to public safety. These violations could lead to accidents, including fires or explosions, endangering both workers and nearby residents, authorities warned.

Fines Imposed for Violations and Overcharging

In addition to sealing the illegal outlets, authorities imposed fines on the owners for violating safety regulations and for overcharging customers for LPG refilling. The exact amount of fines was not disclosed, but officials emphasized that strict action would be taken against any future violations. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to enforce safety standards and curb illegal activities in the district, Hussain noted.

Public Safety Concerns Highlighted

The crackdown underscores the risks associated with unregulated LPG filling operations. Illegal points often lack proper equipment and trained staff, increasing the likelihood of accidents. Authorities urged citizens to report any suspicious LPG filling activities to the RTA or local police to help prevent potential disasters. The RTA Secretary reiterated that such joint operations would continue to ensure compliance with safety regulations and protect public welfare.
