Cement Local Sales Up 9.5% in FY2025-26, Exports Dip

Local sales of cement in Pakistan increased to 41.507 million tonnes during the fiscal year 2025-26, up from 37.906 million tonnes in the previous fiscal year, marking a growth of 9.5 percent. This data was released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

Export Decline and Overall Growth

On the export side, the industry experienced a decline of 2.19 percent, with volumes dropping to 9.008 million tonnes in FY2025-26 compared to 9.210 million tonnes exported in the prior fiscal year. Despite this, overall industry volumes grew by 7.21 percent, reaching 50.515 million tonnes in FY2025-26, up from 47.116 million tonnes in the previous year.

June 2026 Performance

In June 2026, total cement despatches were 4.331 million tonnes, an increase of 18.38 percent compared to 3.658 million tonnes despatched in June 2025. Local cement despatches in June 2026 reached 3.541 million tonnes, up 26.78 percent from 2.793 million tonnes in June 2025. However, export despatches declined by 8.73 percent, falling from 865,387 tonnes in June 2025 to 789,840 tonnes in June 2026.

North-based cement mills despatched 3.019 million tonnes in June 2026, a 16.39 percent increase from 2.594 million tonnes in June 2025. South-based mills despatched 1.31 million tonnes, up 23.23 percent from 1.065 million tonnes in the same month last year.

Domestic and Export Breakdown by Region

North-based mills despatched 3.019 million tonnes domestically in June 2026, a 26.53 percent increase from 2.386 million tonnes in June 2025. South-based mills despatched 522,021 tonnes locally, up 28.24 percent from 407,069 tonnes in June 2025. There were no exports from North-based mills in June 2026, while exports from South-based mills jumped 20.12 percent to 789,840 tonnes from 657,527 tonnes in June 2025.

Full Fiscal Year Regional Data

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, North-based mills despatched 34.720 million tonnes domestically, a 10.83 percent increase from 31.329 million tonnes in the previous fiscal year. Exports from North declined by 53.85 percent to 777,207 tonnes from 1.683 million tonnes. Total despatches by North-based mills rose 7.53 percent to 35.498 million tonnes from 33.013 million tonnes.

South-based mills despatched 6.787 million tonnes domestically in FY2025-26, up 3.18 percent from 6.577 million tonnes. Exports from South increased by 9.36 percent to 8.230 million tonnes from 7.526 million tonnes. Total despatches by South-based mills grew 6.48 percent to 15.017 million tonnes from 14.104 million tonnes.

Industry Outlook

A spokesperson for APCMA expressed optimism about strong cement demand in the coming months on both domestic and international fronts. He stated that collective efforts to amicably resolve geo-political tensions will lead to competitive and stable energy supplies, addressing concerns about high energy and fuel costs.
